About

The project aimed to create an “observatory” for the University of Industry (Learning Direct) to gather related work on distance education. By utilising KMi technologies to integrate web documents with formal knowledge representations, the observatory allowed customers of the University of Industry to find relevant project descriptions for their needs. The project built on previous KMi initiatives such as Enrich and PlanetOnto and involved collaboration with the International Centre for Distance Learning (ICDL) within IET.

Several associated articles and projects were highlighted, including work on organisational learning, document enrichment, and knowledge management, which contributed to the project’s foundation.
