About
The Bookshelf Project was an initiative designed to help people share information online about the books on their bookshelves. It originated in KMi to solve the problem of finding out who in a community owns a particular book without bothering everyone. Though it began in a university setting, the project was intended for wider use, including reading groups and personal libraries. Users provided a text file with book ISBNs, which was uploaded and displayed via a web link. The project was created and implemented by PhD students Mark Gaved and Tom Heath.
